 The humble bee is seen as a sacred teacher of balance, service, and community. Though small, it plays a powerful role—pollinating plants and sustaining life while asking for little in return. The bee teaches us to live in harmony with nature, to give as we take, and to honor our roles within the circle of life. In ceremonies, its movements inspire dances, its hive symbolizes the village, and its honey is cherished as medicine. The bee reminds us to respect the Earth and each other, for even the smallest beings carry great wisdom and purpose gifted by the Creator.

Paula Top Sky Houtz (Shoshone-Bannock Chippewa Cree)
Paula TopSky Houtz is a Shoshone-Bannock tribal member from Fort Hall, Idaho. She also proudly represents her Chippewa Cree blood and those roots can be seen in all her art and designs.
Paula is active in culture and traditions and draws inspiration from them.

She attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico and returned home to establish herself as an artist on her reservation.
Her artwork can be seen throughout Fort Hall, notably some past and current Fort Hall Festival logos and soon to include placement on the new I-15 overpass expansion, depicting Shoshone-Bannock ways of life.
